About

Dr. Mamadou Bocoum, who was born in Senegal and currently resides in the United Kingdom, specialises in analysing the challenges facing Muslims in the post-modern era. His proposed solutions are rooted in both traditional Islamic scholarship and modern methodologies. Dr. Bocoum's approach is unique in that he does not limit himself to Eastern perspectives, but instead advocates for a Western viewpoint using innovative methods. While he acknowledges the importance of classical Islamic scholarship, he also encourages a departure from it in situations when they conflict with universal principles such as human rights, equality, and social justice. In doing so, Dr. Bocoum's approach provides a unique and distinctive viewpoint for contemporary Muslim thinkers and the general public. Dr. Bocoum currently teaches theology and Islamic history at MECCA Institute in the United States.
